Maximum Pop! Books update: 12 weeks, 150k likes, 1 title reveal, 7 Facebook Lives and endless piles of books

Maximum Pop! Books changes, develops and grows just as quickly as the book world does. We’re proud to lead the way in championing the best books as the biggest YA channel in the UK – a lot happens in a single week on the Books channel. Here’s what we’ve been up to in the last three months…

The Basic Book Life hit 150,000 likes.

We launched a brand new Facebook page last Autumn and it’s been going from strength to strength. Filled with memes that speak to bookish fangirl souls, fandom quizzes and the odd article or two, we think that The Basic Book Life totally embodies MP! and we’re so pleased that it speakers to our readers too.

We revealed the title of superstar Holly Bourne’s new book

Holly Bourne is one of our bookish heroes and after the end of her ‘Spinster Club’ trilogy last year, the YA world was desperate to see what she’d publish next. We got to tell everyone! Holly joined us live for an exclusive reveal of her new book title and the first drips of information about what we can expect.

Chatted to Carrie Hope Fletcher at the Biggest Book Show on Earth

Every year World Book Day comes around and the biggest and best authors go on tour across the UK. We went along to Waterstones Piccadilly for an event with YouTuber Carrie Hope Fletcher, radio presenter Gemma Cairney and YA masters Michael Grant and David Almond. We even got to chat to Carrie and Gemma all about books before the event.

We revealed the brand new cover for fantasy legend Terry Pratchett’s ‘The Wee Free Men’

There’s not a bookworm around that hasn’t benefitted from Terry Pratchett. Whether from his books or from your favourite authors whom he inspired, Pratchett has had a lasting impact on fantasy. We were so proud to release both the new limited edition hardback cover and the illustrated paperback version. Gorgeous!

It was the Battle of Hogwarts all over again

The MP! Team are total Potterheads. We’ve got Gryffindors, Slytherins and Hufflepuffs (weirdly no Ravenclaws…) and we just couldn’t agree on which House was the best. So we let you guys cast your vote. LIVE. It got serious pretty fast. Don’t get between a fan and their Hogwarts House…

We launched 12 commercial campaigns

That’s a lot of books and a lot of reading, but we loved ‘em all! Fantasy, thrillers, contemporary, serious issues and dystopia – we covered them all with quizzes, giveaways, lists of recommendations, interviews, videos and even a few things you definitely wouldn’t expect. And though we’re always sad to see a campaign end, there’s always the next 12 books to fall in love with.

Interviewed YA legend Veronica Roth about her new book

If you’ve had anything to do with YA at all in the last few years then you’ve probably read ‘Divergent’ or seen the film, and you’ll at least have heard of the epic dystopian franchise. January saw Veronica Roth burst back onto the scene with a spacey thriller and we got to get the goss on what it was like to write post-’Divergent’. We fangirled HARD.

You should stick around – you won’t believe the cool things we’ll be getting up to in the next few months.
