Think about your eye shape

If you know your eye shape, you can narrow down your selection as there are so many styles to choose from. Other shapes and structures that are common, that can be applied in many different ways, are listed below.

Almond eyes – There is only one strip lash eye shape that suits the majority of people (an almond eye is when your iris disappears into your upper and lower lids when looking straight ahead).

Deep Set Eyes – Having your eyes set deeper into the head gives the impression of a larger brow bone. The centre of the lashes should be longer.

Downturned Eyes – Eyes that appear to be drawn downward at the outer corners. Make your eyes look larger by wearing a strip lash that is longer in the outer corners.

Hooded Eyes – When there is no visible crease on your eyelid. Make your lashes shorter by using a thin strip lash.

Prominent Eyes – The eyelids appear to protrude into the socket of the eye. To give the illusion of pushing your eyes back, balance your top lashes with strip lashes on the bottom.

Close-set / Wide-set test

You can measure the width of your eye by looking at a mirror and placing your pencil, pen or makeup brush between the inner corner and the outside edge.

A perfect fit between the two eyes would be to fit the width of one eye perfectly into the gap between them. The outer corners of your lashes should be longer when you have overlap (less than an eyeball width between the eyes) because you tend to have close-set eyes in this case.

A space that is larger than one eyeball width may be a sign of wide-set eyes, so the emphasis may be placed in the centre. In order to accomplish this, use longer lashes at the inner corners, which will pull the eyes together.

Handle the eyelashes from the box

Apply the glue to the eyelashes

The lash vein should be dotted with glue from corner to corner (straight from the adhesive applicator). You need to wait a few seconds for it to become tacky before applying it.

The ‘double adhesive’ technique is a great way to get long-lasting results, by putting glue on the lashes as well as along your lash line.

You should also invest in a separate glue that’s more heavy-duty than the glue that comes with your fake lashes if you wear them more frequently.

Apply the eyelashes correctly

Ensure that they are placed where the bulk of your natural eyelashes begin. You can apply the strip lash to your lash line in the middle, the outer edge and at the inner corner by looking down.

Bond the eyelashes

To ensure a good set-up, wear mascara first so you can pinch and push the natural and false lashes together. You don’t want a strip of skin between your lashes and the strip lashes, so press down the strip lashes onto the natural lashes. You can use eyelash tweezers or your fingertips to adjust the lashes. Finish with a gentle push against the inner lash line of your lashes for more uplift.
